What is Nursing Home Abuse and Neglect?Nursing home abuse and neglect can happen in several different ways. If you have a loved one in a nursing home, it is important to be aware of the different ways nursing homes can be liable for able and neglect.

A nursing home can be liable for neglect if it neglects a resident and that neglect causes serious actual or potential harm to the resident. This can come about in several ways. If a nursing home employee knows that a resident needs help walking, the staff does not provide assistance to the resident, and the resident falls, the nursing home could be liable for neglect.

Nursing homes can also be liable for Bedsores that they allow to progress without proper treatment.

Nursing homes may also be liable for financial abuse. This can happen when a nursing home employee or the nursing home steal a resident’s personal information. This can be done to steal money from the resident. This can also happen if a nursing home employee or the nursing home forces a resident to change a will so that the employee or the nursing home benefits.

It is important to know that there are other forms of abuse and neglect as well. Family members of a nursing home resident should watch the resident for signs of changes in behavior.
